Animal Jam Urban Legends

In this post, I'll be discussing a couple of gaming urban legends that I find interesting. I even have some personal stories with a few of them too.

Minecraft: Herobrine (Debunked)

Info

Herobrine is a Minecraft creepypasta character that supposedly roams around players' worlds. It has been told that Herobrine is Notch's (game developer) dead brother. Notch confirmed that he never had a brother, and confirmed that Herobrine doesn't exist. When the myth became very popular, game developers started releasing update info that included 'Removed Herobrine' and continue doing that to this day.

Personal Story

Back then, I was a huge believer of Herobrine, even though now I don't believe that Herobrine exists now. One day, I was playing Minecraft with my brother on an Xbox when we started seeing odd things appear on our world. I came across a grass structure shaped like a cross, and I got a bit scared assuming that was Herobrine. Later, I came across our nether structure that had been turned to a letter H. I asked my brother if he did that, but he said no. We got very scared to the point where we just left that world for a while. Now thinking about it, my brother has memory issues, so he probably couldn't remember changing the structure, or perhaps the structure was like that all along.

Roblox: John Doe (Confirmed and Debunked)

Legends

Info

John Doe is an account that was mysterious to Roblox players for a while. Then, a rumor was spread that John Doe was a hacker and had the ability to do bad things to players' accounts, like banning them. This scared so much Roblox players, especially since a lot of them were kids. Eventually Roblox developers confirmed that John Doe is a test account and is meant to be harmless. To this day, the account still exists.

Animal Jam: fman122 (Confirmed)

Info

In 2011-2013, fman122 sent jam-a-grams to various players with a gift. When a player accepted the gift, a virus is sent to their device, and their entire inventory gets wiped out. The hacker was permanently banned on 2013, but people say that they still roam on Animal Jam. AJHQ claimed that fman122 was never real and that there were never any hackers on Animal Jam. On late December 2017, players found a portal that lead to fman122's den, but AJHQ took down the portal. Earlier this year, many players' accounts were hacked; their dens were wiped out and their avatar looked exactly the same as fman122's. That was the last hack before they allegedly quit hacking.

Personal Story

Back in 2013-2014, I had two best friends on AJ, A and C. We've had a couple experiences with fman122 together. One time, I was roleplaying with a couple of friends along with A or C in a den until suddenly fman122 tags along and starts harassing us. They were saying really sexual things to me while chasing me. Another time, I was chatting with A/C when fman122 appears and harasses us. Then, they brought in an army of fman122s and started chasing us everywhere until I agreed to go to my den. They were possibly tracking us down also cuz when we went to my den, they came with us, and they weren't supposed to know where we were unless we were friends with them, which we weren't. I locked my den, which kicked the army out. Another time, I was at A/C's den when fman122 comes in, and tells me that if I don't trade an item with them, they would hack me. So I did, and they told me that I made a big mistake and that they were gonna hack me. So I traded all if my items to my other friends (which was stupid of me cuz some of them didn't even bother to return them to me), and then I made a backup account and traded the rest of my items to that account (once again, really stupid of me cuz I could've done that in the first place). Thankfully, nothing actually happened and that they were just trying to scare me.

That's all for now, sorry if this isn't much, but these were the ones I was most interested in. What gaming urban legends are your favorite? Any personal experiences? Let me know!
