The rare nerd glasses first appeared in August 2013 as a Rare Item Monday item and were sold at Jam Mart Clothing for one day. The cost of the nerd glasses was 950 gems which made them a pretty expensive item.
As you can see here, the rare nerd glasses have a black frame and no lenses. They have a piece of tape on the middle of the glasses holding them together. There’s also a pencil attached to one side of the frame.
There are actually two different versions of the rare nerd glasses – The RIM version and the Adventure version. Here are the differences between the two versions.
Rare Item Monday Nerd Glasses
The Rare Item Monday nerd glasses were only available for one day which made them very hard to get. If you were one of the lucky Jammers who got these back in 2013, they are worth quite a lot in a trade now.
This version of the rare nerd glasses has silver tape in the middle of the frame and features a pencil with silver colored wood on the end. Although I would definitely not recommend it, you can recycle these rare nerd glasses for 925 gems which is a lot more than you usually get. But these are worthy way more in trade value!
Adventure Rare Nerd Glasses (aka Glitched Version)
The Adventure rare nerd glasses were released as a prize for completing certain adventures in Animal Jam. This version of the nerd glasses cannot be purchased in stores so you either have to win them or trade to get them.
They differ from the RIM nerd glasses in a couple ways. First, the tape on the glasses is gold, not silver. And second, the pencil has a tan wooden tip instead of grey. It’s kind of hard to tell from this small picture, but you get the idea.
Many Jammers refer to these as “glitched” nerd glasses because when they first came out, players thought there was glitch happening to the original version. That is incorrect, these are just a slightly different version that can be won from adventures.
How to Get Rare Nerd Glasses
So now that you’ve learned about the types of rare nerd glasses, the question is how do you get them? Well I have a few ways to share.
Trading
The only way to get the original rare nerd glasses from RIM is by trading with another Jammer. I have some tips for how to use the trading system safely here. If you have a pair of rare nerd glasses to trade or if you are looking for some, go ahead and comment below. Hopefully another Jammer will reply and you can work out a trade!
Adventure Prizes
A way to get the gold version of nerd glasses is by playing adventures to win them. I know that you can win them on the Forgotten Desert Adventure and probably some other adventures too. It’s not guaranteed that you’ll win them right away since the prize is random, but this is a good option for Jammers who don’t want to trade to get them.
Rare Nerd Glasses Codes
The last way to get the rare nerd glasses would be to find a working code to get them. This is probably the hardest way because I don’t know of any codes that are out there. If you do happen to know of a rare nerd glasses codes, please share it and I’ll add it to the list!

Here is a story I composed for your entertainment, about why we have 'Certain Animals Only' parties.
Long ago, Liza decided that the animals needed to loosen up a little, and go to parties more often. So she created parties. The other Alphas thought this was a very wise move, and congratulated her for it. The animals were now much friendlier to each other, and payed much more respect to the Alphas, because they were having fun at the right time and place. But soon, the Alphas noticed that since the animals were seeing more of each other at the parties, they gradually became more and more alike, until no one was unique anymore. Everyone wore the same items, had the same animal, and was the same colors. It was impossible to distinguish anyone anymore. The Alphas pleaded to Liza to help fix this problem, because the animals were beginning to ignore the Alphas and the power they had over Jamaa. Liza thought and thought for 14 days, and then the solution came to her.

She added a new party, much to the dismay and confusion of the other Alphas, who thought that the parties were beginning to corrupt the animals. However, this was no ordinary party. Only certain animals would be allowed in, and they could buy only certain things. This was called the Wolves Only Party, and since everyone was a wolf, the animals treated it like a normal party. However, soon, Liza created another party like this one, and about half of the animals went to that one. Eventually, the animals began to see that it was better to be unique, and that it didn't matter whether they had rare items or not, or what animal they were, but that their character and personality were a positive influence over other animals.
